The “Albert Tucker” GAYP National - $10K Tournament will be held on July 5-8, 2022 (Tuesday-Friday) at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites South Vidor, 20691 I-10, Vidor, Texas 77662. The phone number is 409-783-2420. When making reservations, be sure to indicate that you are with the ACF Checkers Tournament. You may call the Hotel or contact us and we will email you the reservation link. It is important to get this done as early as possible. The rate is $94.99 per night plus tax.
The Hotel is 108 miles from Houston Intercontinental Airport. The tournament committee members will provide transportation to and from the airport. The Hotel is also only 45 miles from the Lake Charles Airport if some prefer to go that route.
The City of Vidor is excited about hosting this World Class event. The city has supplied money for funding. The City of Vidor contributed $. We are currently working on more funding from other sites. There will be 3 divisions (if enough players): Masters, Majors and Minors. Play will begin on Tuesday morning and conclude Friday morning. We look forward to serving as your host. We plan to show you great Texas hospitality.

USA NATIONALSThe 2022 USA Nationals is approaching fast. The dates are July 5-8. The place is Vidor, TX. Vidor has been active in the National Checker scene for many years now. This year’s tournament plans to be the best ever. The prize money plans to be somewhere near $14 with a guarantee of $3000 or more to winner. The tournament will also be District 8 tournament as well as the Texas State Tournament. Dr. Richard Beckwith will once again serve as our referee. Thanks Dr. Beckwith!
We are expecting a great group of competitors from every skill range. We will certainly have the best Master’s Players in the World competing for the grand cash prize and the right to be called the USA GAYP Champion.
The tournament will begin on Tuesday, July 5, at 8AM with a short business meeting. Registration will take place all day Monday and Tuesday morning up to the start of the tournament. The tournament will be in 3 rounds a day with 3 hours a round. The schedule will be 8:30 am, 12:00pm and 3:15 pm. All Master games will be notated by each player. The majors and minors are optional. Minors will be for all new comers and for all players under the ranking of 1700.
All participants must be members of the ACF. Memberships are available at the registration site. Entry fee is $40 per player and $25 for Minors. Prize money will be divided among all the participants depending on the outcome of the tournament.

Some will be arriving on Monday at the airport in Houston. If you are flying in and need help in transportation, please contact Watson as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.
There will not just be checkers, but we plan on having a good time for all. On Tuesday night, all players will be treated to a catered meal at the hotel. Wednesday night, the Franks family has a tradition of inviting the players over for a Texas barbeque at their home. There is a swimming pool, large yard and a good time planned.
Vidor is about 8 miles from Beaumont TX. It is also about 10 miles from Orange TX. The beach is about 45 miles. Houston is 95 miles.
